Painting Landscape
Kim has traveled widely but always returns to the landscape he knows and understands. He spent years studying water and how it moves, paintings skies in the manner of the painter Constable and going to a microscope to view a hidden microworld. He received a fellowship and joined a group of international artists who reside for an extended stay at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in north County Mayo, Ireland. During that time, he produced paintings influenced by the Irish landscape and culture and since then has returned to paint in Ireland. Abraham’s work has followed a path of exploration of the landscape in many forms and places. Travels and the years spent working with a portable easel on-site and outdoors continue to inspire new ideas and themes in the studio.
